Vermiculite is a mineral which originates from the hydrothermal alteration of phlogopite, composed of magnesium, hydrated aluminum silicate, iron and other metals in low percentage; it is ideal for Dangerous Goods packaging. The distinctive trait of this mineral is due to the fact that the several layers of the metals are linked together by water molecules: exposed to partial cooking, it comes up composed of very tiny flakes or lamellar crystals, therefore particularly suitable for the absorption of liquids, it is shockproof, as well as sound-proof and provides thermal insulation. Its fireproof nature makes it an excellent extinguishing agent in the fire prevention. It is sold in paper bags of 100 L.
